Job applications are now being accepted at Cosmo Specialty Fibers, Inc., an affiliate of The Gores Group, CEO Michael Entz announced today. “Mill restoration has proceeded to the point where we are ready to fulfill the promise of approximately 150 new jobs with this process. We are accepting applications through our web site www.cosmospecialtyfibers.com where we are posting the whole range of positions available at the mill.”
Entz explained that the hiring process will continue until all the jobs are filled and encouraged anyone who had dropped off a resume or visited the mill over the past few months for hiring information to apply on-line. “We expect a high level of interest in these positions and the most efficient way we can offer jobs, and hire the right people into the right positions, is through the on-line process. For the number of applications we expect, the ability to answer phone calls or serve individuals in person at the mill will not be possible.”
Cosmo Specialty Fibers, Entz explained, is building a dynamic, new team for success and industry leadership and is actively seeking qualified and experienced candidates who are team players, entrepreneurial thinkers and highly motivated to fill a range of positions.
“The best way to keep good jobs for the long term right here in Grays Harbor is to produce the best quality specialty fibers available for the global market. Internationally, there are always going to be lower cost producers and the production technology is widely available,” said Entz. “That means we have to compete on quality and which will require a team approach where team members are motivated, flexible and willing to take leadership on production activities and issues as they arise. To recruit those people, we will ensure that our wage and benefit structures are very competitive.”
Entz explained that the mill will be looking for certain levels of education or experience as a minimum. “Cosmo Specialty Fibers is essentially a complex biomass refinery using the best fiber source in the world – Western Hemlock. We will provide orientation and extensive safety training, but we will also be rigorous in our selection process. We will be looking for people that match our attributes and minimum requirements even if they don’t have direct pulp experience.”
The hiring process and timetable are also on the web site as are links to information about surrounding communities and the real estate market. . For potential applicants that may not have current internet access, WorkSource Aberdeen or branches of the Timberland Regional Library do have resources to access the web. The mill is currently undergoing a significant restoration and is aiming at May 1, 2011 to be fully operational. Placement of selected candidates will be timed to support the mill start-up planning.
