Cosmo Specialty Fibers Names New Mill Manager

The senior leadership team at Cosmo Specialty Fibers, Inc. was completed today with the announcement of Jim Smith as the new Mill Manager. In making the announcement, CEO Michael Entz cited Smith’s previous industry experience and the fact that he has been onsite for months with responsibility for the Mill commissioning plan, along with electrical and instrumentation responsibility.

“Our international candidate search for Mill Manager was extensive and thorough,” said Entz. “The senior leadership team interviewed a number of highly qualified candidates with very good records of success as leaders in this industry. All candidates were impressed with the culture of success that we are building here, and attracted by the very bright business prospects in the marketplace for the products of this mill.”

Entz said that Jim Smith distinguished himself to the leadership team with a management approach that was clearly a good fit for the workplace environment being established at Cosmo. “We all had a first-hand look at how Jim managed over the months he worked here and feel he brings expertise which nicely complements the management strengths we now have. I think it’s fair to say that the choice of Jim as our first Mill Manager was unanimous among the leadership team and very well received in the workplace.”

Previous to working at Cosmo Specialty Fibers, Smith began his career at Smurfit Stone progressing from Superintendent of Electrical and Instrumentation, to General Manager at three mills – most recently in Jacksonville, Florida and Los Angeles, California. Jim has a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
